I got that feelin' again girl, that feelin' I just can't deny
You know that feeling you get from time to time? That indescribable urge to play an in depth D20 Steam punk game along terms of Something out of heart of darkness, with the party from Victorian England descending from their Airship into the deepest heart of the jungle and tracking down a rogue imperialist who "went native" with the help of a freed slave from the region? I've got that right now.
I really want to play a sort of supernatural/steam punk type of game, party consisting of an old british colonel, a cockney boxer/factory worker, a Professor from Oxford with his freed slave, now butler and confidant as well as his young female protegee. I think it would be fascinating, especially if you could get a good film noir mystery sense going to it, maybe a werewolf or a vampire in there, and lots of tribal magic based on consorting with spirits. You could even put in a little priest (or maybe a Van Hellsing like character,) and go into some serious religious discussions about the role of divinity in the game. I don't know what the professor would be studying, but I still think that such a game would be awesome. No internal combustion engine, no magic (although casting based on summoning spirits and such) lots of fun supernatural stuff (were-creatures and odd things of the jungle.)
The real obstacle is that I don't have any D20 shit, nor anyone to play with, or any time to play. But damn, that would be a lot of fun to do. Why? Because I'm a nerd, and I embrace my nerdism, and this week, my nerdism really wants to have a good blimp that I could travel the world in.
